Our Work
BEAM’s charitable purpose is to relieve the need of birth Mothers whose children do not live permanently in their care; through the provision of confidential peer to peer support group meetings, one to one meetings, telephone / online support and raising awareness.

Our Mission is to build a network of women, groups and organisations raising awareness and support for birth Mothers experiencing enforced separation from their children.
Our Values include:
-
giving birth mothers opportunities to support one another with a determination not to judge any birth mother who comes to BEAM
-
the commitment to really listen to each mother and to value their ‘voice’, particularly as these are women who are often not heard.
We seek to shine a light on each mother’s resilience and resourcefulness, recognising they have overcome overwhelming obstacles and trauma.

Peer Support Group
Our Vision is to provide a safe, confidential place for BEAM birth mothers to be valued, strengthened and to fulfil their potential through peer to peer support.
We are honouring this vision through our weekly in person 'Carry On Beaming' peer support group that takes place online.

Beam Wellbeing Course
We offer a free 12 week wellbeing course to our Beam Mothers.
Developed in partnership with the Kintsugi Hope charity, (Kintsugi means 'golden joinery') our Wellbeing course is designed to provide a safe and supportive space for Mums who feel or have felt overwhelmed.
Each session provides tools for self-management in a facilitated peer mentoring style setting.

Our course is run by our fabulous trustee Julia and 2 Beam Mum volunteers. It consists of a structured yet flexible series of 12 weeks of content, which includes group and individual activities designed to help our Mums to accept themselves, to understand their value and worth, and grow towards a more resilient and hopeful future.

Issues covered include; disappointment, loss, anxiety, anger perfectionism, shame and resilience.

Our Wellbeing course has proven to be extremely beneficial to the Beam Mums who have attended.
